Go Rosie!

Last night, I moved Rosie from her nest in the Run In – to a protected pen inside the tack room; a safe place to hatch her eggs.

This is round two for our sweet Rosie. She is sitting on three precious eggs due to hatch between Friday and Sunday.
I hesitated to share the news because her first little chick didn’t survive very long, just a few days. I don’t know why the chick died, but Rosie and I were devastated by the loss. I had to remove the chick after it passed because Rosie wouldn’t leave her.

Rosie rested from May to July and refueled for this sitting. This time around she has not one, but three beautiful, tiny eggs under her.

As I was preparing her “hatching pen”, I realized I was holding my breath, hoping that she has a better outcome this time. It is a hesitant hope – a wish, a desire…. And THAT got me thinking about how the HOPE of the gospel is so different from the kind of hope we associate with our day to day ideas and routines.

I hope Rosie’s eggs will hatch. We hope it will rain (or stop). We hope we did well on our test. We hope we packed everything we need. We hope… This kind of hope is a weak, restless, worrying, dreaming, wishing kind of hope.

Followers of Christ have a different kind of hope. Oh how sweet is the HOPE of the Gospel! We have hope in our Lord because He is faithful to fulfill His promises. This kind of hope is bold, full of expectation and anticipation! This hope is not a wishy-washy, dreamy, hold-your-breath kind of hope! Born from our faith, our HOPE gives life and breath to our Christian walk.

Our faith is rooted in the firm belief in the hope (truth, expectation) of the gospel; the good news, the freedom of access to our majestic God. Wow. Thank you Lord, for the beautiful hope you have placed in our hearts and spirts, that allows us to rest in you, rejoice in your promises and renew our commitments, daily. Amazing love. Amazing hope. Amazing God!
